Project "Major" - Gurk / Arnstadt

From 9 to 14 November 2009, the small town of Arnstadt, visiting from Austria. Because with the arrival of the four Austrian exchange students and Professor Klärner on Monday evening was the beginning of school exchanges Gurk - Arnstadt and ushered in the Major Project.

The Major is a network of roads that stretches from central Italy to northern Germany. On it are the best known and most influential buildings of the Romanesque period. These structures were artistically represented by the students in a variety of methods. On Tuesday morning, met pupils and teachers in the art room of the State secondary school Arnstadt. There she first began to deal with the matter set apart. By late afternoon, the Arnstädter visited with their host students, an exhibition at the Kunsthalle. Wednesday began with the image collection in the church at Oberndorf, then the group went to Erfurt to enjoy the moment a little time off. The museum collected thereafter at a historical background about the film capital of Thuringia. Immediately afterwards, all well-informed on a city tour started off where it was made especially for Romanesque buildings into consideration. As a final experience of the Erfurt Cathedral was visited. Then the students started the Thursday with the visit of the Arnstadt church of Our Lady. In other historic institutions of this city was in the following, received by the students self-guided tour. Spent most of the afternoon in order to translate the collected impressions drawings and picturesque.
In the evening, however, were all together again, to bowling and pizza at the experience once again to reflect. Before the Arnstädter Gurk from their friends, passed on Saturday, ended on Friday, all work that was started.

From 13.12.2009 to 18.12.2009 was concluded, instead of the return visit. When the train arrived at 20pm at St. Veit station, the German guests were already waiting anxiously. Good recovery from the fatigue of the trip came together Tuesday morning, all in the Gurk school to discuss the progress of the following week. After a two-hour Cathedral tour, the group was to maintain as the Austrians say, a snack, only to once again get to work and design of the images. The entire Tuesday and Wednesday morning were all working on their drawings, and each also had the opportunity to make a T-shirt with Romanesque motives. On Wednesday afternoon, the week has been managed well as in Arnstadt in bowling and pizza brought to a finale. Finally, the Austrians were invited with their guests to a workshop in Friesach. This took place Thursday and included a city tour, a medieval food, soap stone grinding and Papierschöpfen. Hoping to see you soon, bye to the friends of each other.

The resulting works of art of the Major project will soon be able to admire an exhibition at the District Office at Arnstadt.

In the project week, the students prepared to exchange with the Oberstufenrealgymnasium St. Ursula on "Major" is an exhibition. The exhibition has both documentary and artistic character. The selected drawings framed and put together photo collages and designed and illustrated a journal and bound.
