Information meeting for parents Spokesman

On Wednesday, goods 25.11.2009, from 18:00 to Clock Klassenelternsprecher 5th, 6th and 7.Klasse and interested parents were invited by the school to obtain initial information on the planned project notebook classes starting next school year. The almost complete participation of all parents at the end of the active speaker and discussion shows the interest of parenthood and the curiosity of a modern and also new to the school-teaching concept.

This was the part of the school by Mrs. Stelzer, deputy head responsible for planning and school organization, and by Mr. Eckoldt and Mr. Engelmann, the teacher of computer science and contacts regarding PC-Technik/Netzwerk are presented. As a guest of Mr. Bilio ThILLM was present, presented the experience from practice, as he (not only) thüringenweit notebook class projects at schools attended.

The presentation was first, what genuine laptop classes generally, and why the school is the theme and rationale of implementation, combined with additional work, in general does. There was a brief overview from an educational point of view with respect to benefits, advantages and objectives that are linked to it. Similarly, the technical infrastructure of the school and the necessary extensions were discussed. As an important point on which there was expected, most discussion and questions focused on the financing including maintenance, insurance, etc. of the notebook on the agenda, because it affects more than educational and technical implementation in the classroom first and foremost the parents. The advantage of using laptops and e-learning especially in relation to the preparation for a study and expert handling of new media was in the end by Mr. Bilio clarifies again.

During the 90 minutes were largely answered the questions and eliminate confusion regarding the implementation. A clear majority support from parents is a positive conclusion. The concerns and strong skepticism from a parent due to bad experience with a failed implementation at a primary school, illustrates the more the need for longer-term planning, a transparency and participation by parents as well as a thoughtful and consistent approach - the latter was us attested by Mr. Bilio.

In December there will then be for all parents of current grade 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. one parent letter with detailed information about the bgzl then a response is of interest in an integration of the child in the laptop project. At the same time the letter is also published on a special page of the website and - offered on request of the parents - a contact form through which any interested party may submit his questions. These are collected and placed with the side and if possible, be answered.

The presentation of the event is here (as a PowerPoint 1MB) or be downloaded as a PDF (8MB).

A few details on the project "notebook classes at Gymnasium Lindenberg in Ilmenau, you can learn on its website. This school, which is also media school, had already introduced to the school year 2009/2010 (to my knowledge as the very first school in Thuringia) real laptop classes as a pilot project.
