First Letter to parents on the planned implementation of laptop classes

Dear Parents,

We hereby inform you about the laptop class project of our school, we will offer beginning next school year for interested students in grade 7 and 8.

So far, all our students receive in the media studies teaching of grades 5 to 7 Basic knowledge in dealing with modern media. We also have class from 8 to interested students, the elective computer science. In addition, all departments use our 2 computer labs and computer rooms located in the compartment. The planned introduction of laptop classes in this context is a logical step to increase the individual use of modern media and to obtain important key qualifications dar.

The main objective is to provide information technology key skills.

In addition, shows that the teaching is through the introduction of notebook classes varied and vivid, and emerge in the students more independence and responsibility.

What we have planned as a class notebook?

  • Each participating student is owner of his own, always-on laptops.
  • During school, students access the school network and the Internet.
  • In class, the computer is used as a standard equipment. The use of new
Media is learned specific field and should therefore be commonplace. The proportion of
    Computer use is themenabhängig.
The notebook should only be used where it makes sense to teach
enriched and is an added value for students and teachers!
  • All students work with the same notebook.
  • The cost of the notebook are to be borne by the parents.

The technical infrastructure of the school already allows the use of computers and the Internet in all rooms. In addition each room has a network connection that is protected by special protective measures. In the spring of 2010 an additional wireless network (WLAN) is installed. The classrooms for the notebook classes are currently being equipped with digital projectors (beamers). At central locations, there will be print and scan stations.
All participants can rent a locker at the school.

The notebook will also be available at school and at home. the notebook in 2 areas (2 partitions) To be divided on the selection of the device to decide. Parents and teachers together.

The project is from the 2010/2011 school year in grade 7 and / or 8 a period of 3 years planned for. The selection of the grade level and the concrete classes is dependent on the number of participants and the feasibility.

The financing, including insurance by the parents must be. Depending on the selection of equipment can cost from 15 € to 30 € per month for a maturity of 3 years arise. For this period, thus must also be designed to maintain and service.

This parent letter and additional information are now available on our school website (here ...) can be checked. There we also have related links on the topic "notebook class together." In addition, we offer a contact form that can provide every interested his questions to the project.

Please give feedback in a sealed envelope to your child to 8 January 2010 with the class teacher. Even in the case of non-participation, we need a feedback! Depending on the number of positive feedback, we can then begin in January with an initial plan and decide what grade levels and classes are favored, and whether a new division of classes is necessary. The result is
then posted on our school website along with a date for a meeting of all interested parents. Only at this time we need a binding commitment to participate in the project of your child.

Finally a request:
We would welcome input from you in planning the project very much. Please share with us experiences, suggestions and requests that should be included in your view in the project. We have particular interest for expert collaboration in terms of technical, financial, technical and legal concerns.

We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year and remain with best regards

Second Letter to parents on the planned implementation of laptop classes

Dear parents!

In our first letter from parents 15:12:09 we will inform you in detail about our planned project notebook. You have decided whether this issue will be of interest for your child or not.

Because of this feedback in class and now under consideration of all the human and organizational factors in our school we have decided to set up only one class notebook in the coming school year. This will be made up of students from the current classes 6a and 6b. Between these two classes would only change a maximum of 3 students, so that readjustment of the class can be avoided. Even without these changes making a notebook class would be possible.

Since the average in all other classes at approximately 50% of parents have chosen for the project, complete Klassenneuaufteilungen here would be required.

We had our first parent letter already referred to the fact that the selection of the grade level and the concrete classes on the number of participants and relaying will be dependent bility. All parents who had chosen positive, their children will now not attend, unfortunately, a notebook-class and on issues, parents' table, etc. is dedicated, but assured that this was not in vain. All inquiries, opinions and discussions about the project showed us where information tionsdefizite or misunderstandings were. It will benefit us in any case, the next school year for briefings and communications to plan content and timing even better.

All parents of classes 6a and 6b, for the participation of their child on the notebook project decided to have one as well as all other interested parents of these two classes are invited to a second information meeting for Wednesday, Feb 17, 2010 to 19.00 in MU2-space (R0.17) a warmly. Content, it is about specific requirements for the formation of the notebook category, the timing, organization of classes, to plan the unit, and a possible financing and ultimately to a binding promise to go to participate. It would therefore be desirable that all those parents houses that have decided to join your child in the project, were present that evening are.

Yours sincerely,
Martina Stelzer, Klaus Engelmann, Matthias Eckoldt
