The theater of the National Gymnasium Arnstadt was created as part of the project the day of our school in September 1995.

The samples of the theater will be conducted under the overall direction of the German and history teacher Babette Koch. Professional support in the staging of the plays provide a native of St. Petersburg theater director and actor Alexander Moskvin and his wife, the actress Elena Moskvina.

The theater takes its samples by regularly once in each school week for two hours, usually within the timeframe of between 13.30-16.30 Clock. Additional samples before performances in the afternoon and weekends are scheduled. It makes sense if the school planning that allows any company in such a phase, a ride in a sample camp. Concern for the production of sets, costumes and props, the group itself, the samples are held in the theater room of the school (school part Beetle Straße).

Currently, 20 students in grades 5 contribute to 9 in the theater. Due to the different ages of the members currently two pieces will be rehearsed. Produced in collaboration with the chorus "The Struwwelpeter" and should be brought to the performances in the autumn of 2009 "The Little Witch" in a dramatic treatment of Elena Moskvina, for motives of Ottfried Preußler's novel of the same name.

The theater not only enriches the cultural life at school mentioned here were performed in the context of school functions and support of various school projects, but also urban cultural events.

The group's repertoire ranges from sketches on mehraktige stage works to selbstverfassten plays.
